Old memories/New subjects

on my ever growing thirst for new subjects.. my mind has stumbled upon a childhood memory of when my uncle took us to see the penguins at a little beach called Boulders Beach.

At Boulders Beach and surrounding beach’s you can find the natural habitat of the African Penguin or Jackass Penguin. I thought it would be a great idea to head down there and capture them doing there thing.

Part of the daily routine.. kicking back just chilling on the rocks admiring the view of the Indian Ocean. I’ve read that it’s their moulting season and usually stay on land during this time period between November and February with most of the moulting happening during November and December. Thereafter they start feeding and breeding again. Breeding season is all year round.

I wonder where he is headed…

I’m pretty sure this one is laying on her eggs, this area was marked as the nesting area and prohibited people to enter it.

Penguins have life long partners but i think the one in the background is crying from the heartache.. his female companion had left him for a more “healthier” looking guy. Cheer up ol chap theres plenty of penguins on the rocks:)

a couple inlove :) check how the male penguin bends over backwards to clean his partner.. sweet huh?

And that concludes this post of an old memory re-lived in order to increase my collections and to broaden my field of subjects..

THanks for reading.
